Day 52 - Little Elvis loves the night life

We had a rough night last night. Little Elvis likes the nighttime. We've had issues actually getting him to sleep for a week, but it's been possible.

Last night it wasn't.

He wasn't crying, except when he was hungry. But he wasn't sleeping either.

We thought we were doing good. He fell asleep at the end of his 10 p.m. feeding and stayed asleep while we put him in bed.

Then he woke up 2 and a half hours later. And refused to go back to sleep. I rocked him. Bob squatted with him. We burped him and rubbed his little belly. Bob changed him. We kept it completely dark.

Finally, I think around 6 a.m., I brought out the car seat. I had read that that worked for some women. It did! Until 8 a.m. Then after that feeding he took another two hour nap while lying on me.

We had storms last night, so I really want to blame them. I keep worrying that his sleep habits are all my fault. Bob says that's not possible, but maybe I ate something that made him hyper?

He seems to be feeling good right now. He's smiling and sneezing at me while I type this. Too cute.

Any other suggestions to get him to sleep?

Our pediatrician told us that breastfed babies typically don't sleep for long stretches like formula fed babies b/c the breastmilk is thinner.
So, we made a conscious effort to feed in such a way that I KNEW Gage was getting the hind milk...I pumped after nursing to make sure that I got the hind milk out....

avoided caffeine as much as possible...

And, our son ate a LOT. So, we supplemented with formula. We made sure that we did that at night feedings (I would pump then, & freeze it...)
But, we found it to be true (not one hundred percent of the time, of course) that he would sleep longer after eating the thicker formula...

That's a good idea about the hind milk, lainey-paney. Thanks for the suggestion!
