Day 61 - Shots suck

Little Elvis had his two month doctors appointment today -- which meant shots galore.

The first part of the appointment went really well. He's gaining weight and is becoming a chubby little boy.

Then the doctor left and the nurse came in with a plastic box full of mean looking needles.

First, she gave him an oral medication. He took that pretty well. But then she brought out the big guns. He was pretty happy until he felt the first poke. Then he started screaming. She quickly gave him three more shots and I kissed his little head to comfort him -- forgetting that I had actually put lipstick on (a rarity these days.) When the shots were done, he was red faced, upset and had cranberry lip marks on his forehead.

His temperature is up a little bit from the shots, but we gave him Tylenol and he seems to be doing fine.

At least we get a two month break before the next onslaught of shots.

I am definitely not looking forward to the toddler shots. I'm thinking Bob might have to do those doctor appointments on his own...

they are sooooo freaky.

...and after one of Gage's immunizations, he lost the ability to regulate his body temperature.
It was up, it was way up, it wasn't going down...then it was down---way down, then it was normal, nope---back up again.

It was a rough couple of days!

Shots suck!!!!!!

hey btw - did you nurse him as soon as he was able to calm down enough? They say it really soothes them quickly - I mention that since you say you'll let Bob do the older ones - can he bf? LOL
