Bye bye engagement ring

No, I didn't lose the ring. Instead it's going to have to go into storage somewhere.

Little Elvis has this thing for my hands and the ring keeps getting in the way. He managed to get the stone up a nostril a couple of weeks ago and today he really scared me with it.

I was going to brush a hair (one of mine of course) off of his face when he grabbed my hand and pulled it against his face, scraping my ring dangerously close to his eye. HE wasn't hurt, but MY heart was going a mile a minute while I tried to coax him into opening his eyes wide so I could make sure everything was fine.

So, there goes my engagement ring for a while. I'll still have my wedding band, but it will be weird to go around without my engagement ring -- it's been a part of me for more than 5 years.

I remember when it was new to me and it would send a jolt of excitement through me everytime it caught my eye. All that fresh, new love and joy. Now I'm so used to seeing it that I imagine I'll feel a jolt of worry or guilt when I don't see it on my finger.

And I worry about where to store it. Bob says I'm being silly and I won't accidentally forget I put it in a jewelry box and then throw said jewelry box away.

But I've been doing crazy things lately. Little Elvis has three nice big burp cloths that my aunt made him and several smaller ones that don't adequately do their job. I love these big burp cloths, at least I did until I managed to lose two of them two weeks ago. I have checked every imaginable place and some not so imaginable places and those cloths are nowhere to be found! It really frustrates me and I've made a mess of all of our drawers searching for them. (Of course I might have put them in my underwear drawer or Bob's T-shirt drawer, right? Wrong.)

These are nice big cloths too.

I also lost a notepad and something else this weekend. I don't remember what the something else was at the moment, but I was extremely frustrated with myself for losing it. I think I put it somewhere special so I wouldn't forget where it was. So it is entirely possible that I will put the ring somewhere very special and safe, and then after a couple of weeks completely forget where that place is.

I think I'll give it to Bob for safekeeping.

Ok, so I finally found the missing burp cloths. It took me a couple of weeks, but they were under a blanket in my trunk. I'm not quite sure why I did that, but I'm sure I had a really great reason.
