Catching up

Lots of stuff happened while we were on vacation:
  1. Little Elvis has discovered how to hide his lips. He started by sucking in his bottom lip, which was really cute. Then he added the top lip. He looks like a little old man without his dentures in when he does this.
  2. He spits and hums while blowing raspberries now. He gets this super serious look in his little eyes, pokes out his tongue, and spits "mmbbbtlz." It's so cute!
  3. Speaking of humming, Little Elvis now hums while he eats. I'm not sure how he does this, because I can't hum and swallow at the same time. Sometimes he hums sweet lullabies. These are high-pitched and soft. Other times, he hums angrier tunes. They are more grunt-like and louder. During these times I used to wonder if my milk was coming out, but I think the angry songs are connected to tummy troubles.
  4. Little Elvis is now eating two meals a day, one of which includes carrots. He really likes carrots!
  5. He's trying really hard to roll from his tummy to his back. He's so close. One of his arms gets in the way. He cheers himself on until he gets really frustrated. I'll position the arm better and help him get over then cheer for him. He LOVES being cheered on. When we clap he gets this amazed and extremely happy look on his little face.
  6. Little Elvis has started crying when we take "toys" from him. Why the '''''s? Because Bob's Diet Coke can should not be a toy. Last night Little Elvis was sitting on Bob's lap while Bob drank a soda. Our little guy wanted the can and when bob pulled it out of his hands, he started pouted and crying until Bob let him touch the condensation on the can. Whenever Bob attempted to take a drink, the crying began again. I'm thinking this will be our chance to catch a picture of that elusive pout.

That's all that I can remember, but as you can see a stuffy nose does not keep our little guy down.

...growing up soooo fast!

With regard to soda around our house...Once, my husband left a can of Dr.Pepper in Gage's reach. It was around 7 in the evening when I walked into the living room & saw my son chugging liquid caffeine. My husband was in sooooooo much trouble. And I told him---you did this, and you will stay up with him!

Now, we drink soda in coffee mugs. Gage learned a while ago that he does not like the bitter taste of coffee...so, if it's in a coffee mug, he assumes that it is coffee & he wants no part of it.
Makes me feel so sneaky!
(woohoo...I'm smarter than a one year old!)

Amazing how they have tons of real toys, but a can is what they really want!
