Prepping for visit from Gram

My mom is coming for a visit this weekend. She gets into town this evening. Yay!

I love when my parents are able to come for a visit. I really miss them, and feel so guilty that they can't see him as much as they would like. Especially since he's doing so many new things and learning so much right now.

When I was growing up, we lived in the same town as my dad's parents and my mom's parents lived 30 minutes away. At the time, I felt like my mom's parents were so far away. And 30 minutes is nothing when compared to 18 hours.

Do you guys live close to your children's grandparents? How do you deal with the guilt?

I don't feel guilty, but I feel sad that my kids are missing out on knowing their grandparents. The likelihood of us ever living close to them is nil, so I just try to deal with it.

enjoy your visit!!

both of my parents died, and when we do have children, The Mr's parents are only about 3 hours away. since that will likely be their first g'child, i suppose we'll see them often.

i am sorry yours are so far away.

I'm lucky that my mom lives near and spends lots of time with her grandchildren. My father, though, lives in FL. It's hard when they live far away like that - but, I just keep in tough by e-mail, send pictures, have the kids call. It's not easy - have fun with you parents coming to visit. Take care.
