Big brother gift?

I'm an only child. As such, I've spent several nights worried about how Little Elvis will handle the huge shake-up that's about to rock his world.

When we first found out about Baby Plum, I decided to give Little Elvis a big brother gift from his new sibling.

It helped that we had one present we decided to hold off on giving to Little Elvis at his birthday party last February.

He found the pretty, wrapped present while we were moving and it was just easier to give it to him. So, he got a little traffic/construction worker roller suitcase with an orange vest, plastic tape measure and walkie-talkie. He genuinely likes this toy, so at least it was a good purchase.

A few weeks ago, I found a Lightning McQueen roller backpack on clearance. It's something I know he will love, so that's become the new "big brother gift."

I know some people might feel I'm coddling him, but he has no idea what to expect on Friday. (I don't either, quite honestly.) We've all been through a lot this summer, and I guess I just want to give Little Elvis something fun.

My big question is when to give it to him? Should I give it to him at the hospital when he meets Baby Plum in person for the first time? Should we wait until we get home and give it to him then?

Any advice?

of course, i don't reaallllyy know. but if it were me, i'm thinking in the hospital.
that way, he'll have something cool to play with when he's done "oohing and aahing" over plum.

plus it will help direct his attention to something other than all the fun buttons to press in the hospital room.

good luck!!

I'd wait for a lull - I imagine things will be pretty exciting in the hospital and he might be totally involved in all the activity, so you might wait until you get home. On the other hand, I'd have it in the hospital just in case there is a break in activity there...

What fun!
