Little Elvis says "plenty" about school

Little Elvis will not tell me about his school days. He will answer at most one question -- usually pertaining to lunch -- and then he informs me that he will not talk about school anymore.

I've been told it's a boy thing. On the first day of school, he told me, "I've told you plenty, and I'm not telling you anymore."

He still talks about other things though. A few days ago, he was all about buried treasure, so we buried some "treasure" and drew a map. Here he's digging in the garden bed.
He found the treasure! I sealed in a zipper bag, because I figured having dirt on his treasure would not be good.
He's also rediscovered Buzz Lightyear again.
He had to dress up to watch his movie.

I did get something out of him about school last night. He told me that he didn't have any friends yet, but that he would. I'm not sure what to make of it. I would think he would have buddies, but I know that he can be overwhelming in his excitement for things. I would love to talk to his teacher, but I don't have a number. I hate to be THAT parent that worries over everything, but I guess I am. I always had issues making friends when I was older, and I hate for him to have those problems. Especially since he's not shy.

I think the really important thing is that you'll be there when he is ready to talk.

Regarding the friends, wow! He seems so mature for his age! If he has confidence in himself, I think that's very important.

It seems that Noah comes out with school stories MONTHS later. It's like he doesn't have file system in place for what's happening when it's happening, so he can't open the file drawer and pull out the information when I ask. It's funny, most of the time: (except for the time when I found out his teacher said, "Do you need to go to manners camp?" But I never DID find out for sure to WHOM she said it, but I can GUESS. And Noah apparently thought it was some great joke because then, HE said SHE said, "There's no such thing." Hahaha. Cringe.)

last year, in her 2yo mom's morning out program, the bean would say to me "not the stuff that i did"
which was her way of saying "i'm already a teenager, apparently, and i will not share about my day with you."

seems like i read somewhere(?) recently that a lot of kids are just overwhelmed by it all.... and that if you just give them time to decompress first, you may get more out of them.
she starts tuesday- i'll try that this time!
